Wellness is included in everyone’s walk with Christ! It is a gift much like our salvation. He promises to, and delivers on, taking us from our past mistakes, failures, hurts, hang-ups, fears, and anxieties, and pulling us forward into new and inspiring hopefulness! When Christ lifts us from where we were, He also redeems us from our addictions and, even sometimes, from our physical ailments.
Wellness found in Christ is multifaceted. The wellness that Jesus offers is total and complete. It is not uncommon for people to mention the healing they have received and the “wellness” they have found in Him. From crack addiction to a physical deformity, He heals in the present age, and He does not differentiate from person to person or nationality to nationality. He is the gift given to all by God, and He loves everyone, no matter what they have done or where they are from. Gentile, Jew, hostile terrorist, serial killer, wierdo, creep, or thug, it doesn’t matter to Christ! His love is too big to be squeezed into only a small people group or to help only those with a particular sin pattern. The Lord says, through the author and disciple John, in John 3:16, that “‘For God so loved the World’ that He sent His only begotten Son” – and that means everyone (He chose to die on the cross for everyone’s sins)! It is so comforting that God loves the whole world so much that there is nothing that He would not do for us and that there is nothing that we can do that can remove us from the love that He has for us (Romans 8:38-39)! His great love includes giving us healing and renewal.
Mental health wellness is a significant problem faced by most of the modern world
Probably one of the biggest challenges facing the modern world is mental health illness, and in particular, anxiety. Panic attacks, fears of all kinds, and general anxieties of the unknown – these internalized fears externalize and change our behaviors, causing us to avoid certain places and people, are widespread in this age (Barlow et al., 2025). The impact of anxiety is devastating. Lasting attacks of fear, called “panic attacks,” can take days to recalibrate oneself and return to normal after so much fear is produced. Just being worried about life is another fear and anxiety in itself. This generalized fear is called “Generalized Anxiety Disorder.” This is an anxiety disorder where your mind is preoccupied with worry – sometimes about nothing. According to Barlow et al. (2025), as cited by Kessler, Berglund et al. (2005), “About 5.7% of the population has met criteria for GAD at some point during their lifetime.” But the good news is we can overcome these mental health issues with Christ Jesus. It may not be overnight, and it may require continued medical treatments for a time, but all things can be overcome by Christ – even deep pools of fear and anxiety!
The remedy to anxiety is Christ!
The bible says in Philippians 4:6-8 to “be anxious in nothing.” The way to do this, as the verse goes on to say, is to replace anxiety and fear with constant prayer and supplication to the Lord with thanksgiving. The verse also says to be intentional and focus on things that are “good,” “pure,” and “lovely.” This calls for a renewing of the mind (Romans 12:2). Then, in the same verse, the writer repeats the focus on things that are “good.” Which is another verse that aligns with this concept of replacing what we are worrying about with the Mind of Christ. Also, to renew our minds, we are told to make prayer a habitual action that constantly replaces the fear of daily life. We are told to do this also in 1st Thessalonians 5:17. In Christ we are not only made new but in “Perfect Love casts out all fear” 1st John 4:18. The steps are procedural but the best advice was given by Norman Vincent Peele to memorize bible verses and to repeat them even just one of them over and over again until you feel better and can even stand up straighter.

A legacy of Wellness: The remedy for any ailment is Christ
There was a recent discovery from Egypt of a ceramic cup, well over 1,000 years old, with an inscription noting that Jesus is a miracle worker (Manners, September 10, 2025). This found object indicates He has a lasting and widespread legacy of healing all people from anywhere, without prejudice or hesitation. This amazing artifact only expands the hope that Christ offers all people upon simply asking for His help. He says we are to ask, and then we will receive (Matthew 7:7). By receive, He means anything that brings hope and a future to us (Jeremiah 29:11). But the healings performed by Jesus were not just in the ancient past. They are not locked into the time of Jesus as some faith traditions believe. There have been many noted healings even occurring in today’s world. People who should be dead according to traditional medicine are yet alive due to the exceptional wellness provided by Christ the Lord.
One of my favorite modern-day miracles includes the story of a small boy in Mexico who was very, very dead for about 3 hours, only to be miraculously healed (Henderson, 2021). The incident took place in the past 20 years, as stated, in a very warm place. The boy’s body had been found in water, and in the hot sun, it had already become bloated. Suffice to say, the child was very dead. The boy had drowned in water. The healing technique used by the little boy’s father was tears, prayer, and repeatedly stating that he regularly tithed to benefit others and that he now wanted divine favor for himself. The incident took place in a small shed where the dad was holding his dead child and praying. The father was a preacher and was preaching that day in Mexico while his son was unattended. Apparently, some older women were said to have been watching him, but they clearly failed at their job. Everything looked bleak, but suddenly light filled the shed, and the boy became alive after being dead for three hours. There is more to the story, but my point is that Jesus’ power heals the dead even today!
One of the biggest takeaways is that wellness in Christ Jesus is proportional to our faith. This idea comes from the bible. Thinking of the scripture, Jesus would marvel at people’s levels of faith. When someone had more, like when someone has a restored vintage car, he would basically say Wow, that person has a lot of faith. Of course, He did not say that exact phrase, but that is always the gist I get from it. What He specifically said, in Matthew 8:10-11, was, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of Heaven.” This statement clearly indicates wellness is wide open – to anyone – from anywhere! The amount of wellness we can have and expect is directly proportional to our faith volume. Faith is like a substance we can acquire, and some have lots of it, and some have very little. Again, having a lot of faith in YWHY and acting on it is very important in the Kingdom of Heaven. Since what we bind on earth is bound in Heaven (Matthew 18:18; Matthew 16:19), the faith we exhibit here on earth is strung with heavenly places and contributes to our reward in Heaven.
Conclusion
Jesus invites us into a life of restoration, redemption, and renewed hope. He stops our fear, anxiety, addiction, and trauma, and brings us into wholeness. His healing is not limited to our nationality, upbringing, or personal history with failure and sin. In the midst of our failure, He sees us and heals us when others could not or would not. Whether dealing with the everyday hardships or something more, He heals, delivers, and makes people well even today! Friends, wellness in Jesus is real, accessible, and a promise found in His love. Boldly expect this wholeness and wellness and be well!
