A Taste of Eternity: Parkhill Fox’s Pizza

The Gospel and Pizza: Parkhill Fox's Pizza

About ninety minutes outside of Pittsburgh, nestled in the community of Parkhill, Pennsylvania, sits a pizzeria offering an item you won’t find on a typical menu: Eternal Bread. At Parkhill Fox’s Pizza, the mission extends far beyond the kitchen; while the shop is a fully functioning local favorite, the “Eternal Bread”—the Gospel of Jesus Christ—is offered as a free gift to every person who walks through the door.

This post explores how a pizza shop has become a landmark through four key areas:

  • A Menu of Excellence: How quality service reflects the love of Christ.
  • The Heart of the Mission: The driving force behind the restaurant’s ministry is Jesus.
  • The Bridge of Evangelism: Using pizza as a tool for connection.
  • A Testimony of Success: The story of how the owner stepped out in faith and how this step led to a thriving business.

For those looking for a traditional meal, the shop has a history of providing excellent service and a diverse menu. You can customize your order from a variety of fresh toppings on their classic hand-tossed dough or specialty thick-crust pizzas. They also serve a local favorite, the “Wedgie,” a unique signature sandwich. The sub is far from average, using a non-traditional pizza crust breading. However, the true heart of Parkhill Fox’s Pizza is found in Whom is found at the center of the business. Dave, the owner, offers a dedicated space for the ministry of Jesus Christ, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Dave blends quality service with bold evangelism, making the restaurant and its service to the community both delicious and wonderfully hopeful.

The truly amazing thing about this restaurant is the owner’s love of evangelism. He has a burning desire to share Jesus with all the guests that enter his business. When you first walk into the restaurant, you are immediately met with the Gospel in three ways. The first, most noticeable way you sense the Gospel and therefore the love of Jesus is through the love put into the food. We know in scripture, in Proverbs 15:17, that “Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a fattened ox and hatred with it.” I believe the love of Jesus comes through in the food itself, and, in its own way, this is a primary way the owner and his crew serve the community with the love of Christ in an evangelistic way. The second way Parkhill Fox’s Pizza shows the love of Christ is through its unapologetic display of the salvation message. It is on a sign facing the rear of the store; a picture of this sign is in the picture carousel. The third way Dave shares the gospel with his community every day is by placing Bibles in front of his store. He places them up front for customers to take.

In my visit, Dave said he, “doesn’t always have the chance to meet with every customer and tell them about Jesus.” This is why Dave said he decided to put Bibles in the Restaurant. But, beyond Bibles, Dave also dresses to start conversations about Jesus. When I saw Dave in my last visit, he was wearing a shirt representing Christ and a hat that said “WRSHP,” a nod to worship the Lord. Dave makes it a point to let everyone know exactly where his heart and his priorities are. On this topic, he said, “Witness, witness, witness, when God works in your life. Make sure you witness it to somebody! Let them know how real Our God is!” Dave has a passion for Christ, and it is very evident!

Witness, witness, witness, when God works in your life. Make sure you witness it to somebody! Let them know how real Our God is!

The bridge between the gospel and the stomach is built with delicious, warm pizza. Dave knows that even Jesus provided food for those he was ministering to (Matthew 14:16). Likewise, Dave leverages his craft to feed people and his delicious recipes to draw people in, hosting special “Hallelujah Nights” where the community can gather and enjoy discounted pizza in the warm environment he has created. These events aren’t just about the food; they are intentional opportunities to share the hope of the gospel in a tangible, accessible way. By combining delicious pizza with a heart for evangelism in his community, Dave has turned a neighborhood pizzeria into a landmark of faith where the message of salvation is unashamedly on display for all to see.

Dave attributes his business’s success to God. He openly shares that it was initially a risk, given that being an outspoken, faith-based business can have consequences, but he felt led by the Lord to do so. Since shifting to integrate his testimony into his daily operations, he has witnessed a remarkable trend: business has been very good. For Dave, the growth of Parkhill Fox Pizza is a testament to the idea that being an outgoing witness for the gospel and running a thriving enterprise can go hand in hand when one is following a higher calling.

Ultimately, a visit to Parkhill Fox’s Pizza is about more than just a meal; it is an encounter with Jesus. By blending high-quality with a bold, unapologetic commitment to sharing the message of Christ with his community, Dave has transformed his shop into a community landmark. Whether through “Hallelujah Nights” or the Bibles available at the counter, the restaurant proves that a thriving business and a dedicated ministry can go together hand in hand!
